Stuart Lancaster could be on the verge of making a dramatic return to international rugby.

After being blamed by many for England’s disastrous World Cup campaign, few would have thought that Stuart Lancaster would make a quick return to international rugby.

Indeed, many believed that the former England coach would attempt to rebuild his reputation in the Premiership. However The Sun have reported that Lancaster has been offered the vacant post as head coach of the Japanese national team.

In a move that would see Lancaster essentially switch jobs with Eddie Jones, The Sun claim that the Japan have offered the former England coach a four year contract worth £350,000 per year.

Despite England’s poor World Cup performance, the newspaper claims Japanese officials believe that Lancaster’s overall record stacks up.

Although many would wish Lancaster well, outside of two other French sources, the story has not been widely reported.
